Leicester City 2-0 Liverpool

Liverpool lost their 7th away game of the season at Filbert Street this afternoon.

Liverpool failed to impress in the first half, during which time Leicester had a few chances from outside the area. The first goal of the game did not come until after the break and was scored by Ade Akinbiyi, who was played in by Dean Sturridge. Liverpool worked to get back into the game, and Michael Owen was brought on to assist Fowler and Heskey up front, but not one of the three strikers were provided with any decent opportunities to equalise. Leicester had a few chances in injury time, and Muzzy Izzet wrapped it up on 93 minutes to give The Reds their first league defeat in 2001.

Despite the defeat, Liverpool remain in 3rd place in the Premier League, but are now 8 points behind Arsenal, who beat West Ham at home. Runaway leaders Man United were held 1-1 by Leeds.
