BARCELONA 0-0 LIVERPOOL

Liverpool defended superbly in the Nou Camp to hold Barcelona to a 0-0 draw.

The game saw very few goalscoring chances, with Barcelona continually being restricted to long range shots and only a single shot on target which was midway through the second half, but Westerweld saved fairly comfortably.

Liverpool seemed happy to defend throughout, and despite pushing forward whenever they could, they played a very patient game and there was no clear intention of scoring the away goal as they put most of their efforts into preventing Barcelona from breaking the deadlock.

Liverpool's only half chance came when Smicer played an excellent first time ball across the area but Fowler, who had been on the field for less than a minute, was unable to keep his header down.

It was the first time in the competition that Barcelona had failed to score and Liverpool will fancy their chances of reaching their second cup final of the season.
