28.07.2005 - Schalke join race to sign Baros
German side Schalke are the latest club to be linked with a move for Milan Baros, after the player's agent confirmed he has had talks with last season's Bundesliga runners-up.
Pavel Paska claimed earlier this week that no decision would be taken regarding Baros' Liverpool future for another couple of weeks.
But following the sale of Darius Vassell, Aston Villa are likely to make a move to sign a player who they also showed interest in last season, and Schalke now appear to be in the running for the striker's signature.
A fee of £7million is likely to be demanded by Liverpool, and with a spot in the Champions League group stage already assured, Schalke would be a far more attractive option for Baros, who failed to make the most of the chances he was given last season, and now finds himself as the fourth choice striker at Liverpool.
