08.07.2005 - Carragher and Gerrard agree new deals

Jamie Carragher

Reds duo Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard today put pen to paper on new contracts which will keep both at Anfield until 2009.

The pair, who have been the two most impressive performers at Anfield in recent seasons, have signed two year extensions to their current deals, which were both due to expire in 2007.

For Gerrard, it ends a week which started with the news that he was ready to leave the club, until a last minute u-turn ensured that the Liverpool skipper would stay with the club he joined at the age of eight.

Both players are expected to start in Liverpool's friendly at Wrexham tomorrow.
