Steven Gerrard will remain a Liverpool player after reversing his decision not to sign a new contract.

Gerrard yesterday announced that he was to reject the contract offer made to him by Liverpool, a decision which would have left the club with no option but to sell him.

But Rick Parry this morning revealed that the club captain had had a change of heart over night, and was now set to stay.

Gerrard could sign a new contract as early as this afternoon, but will more likely put pen to paper nearer to the end of this week.
