04.07.2005 - Gerrard agent: Contract talks are over
Steven Gerrard's agent, Struan Marshall, has this morning sensationally claimed that the contract talks involving the Reds' skipper have broken down.
Marshall has also said that they is unlikely to be any further talks, increasing fears among Liverpool fans that Gerrard is set to quit the club.
"Talks have stalled and are unlikely to be re-opened," said Marshall, who represents the SFX sports group, the same company who represent David Beckham and Michael Owen.
And should Gerrard fail to agree a deal, as is looking more likely, he could find himself teaming up with two of his international team-mates in the Spanish capital.
chelsea and Real Madrid are both certain to be keeping a close eye on developments at Anfield, and reports in Spain over the weekend claimed that Gerrard will become the 2005 'galactico' at Madrid, following in the footsteps of Luis Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckahm and OWen, who have all made high profile moves to the Bernebeu in recent years.
No bids have yet been received by Liverpool for their captain, and Rick Parry is hoping that the situation is repairable.
