26.08.2001 - Murphy wins England call up
Danny Murphy has finally won a first call up to the full England squad. Murphy played at under 21 level for some time, and was surprisingly omitted from all squad's anounced by Sven Goran Eriksson, despite good form in the run in to 3 cup finals after the new year. Murphy is joined by teammates Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Nick Barmby, Micheal Owen, Robbie Fowler and Emile Heskey as Liverpool provide more than a quarter of the entire 25-man squad. Dietmar Hamann was named in the Germany squad last Wednesday along with Liverpool old boy, Christian Ziege for the vital clash on Saturday.
