02.04.2005 - Igor header keeps Reds on track
Igor Biscan was the unlikely hero as Liverpool followed up their derby win with another victory over one of their rivals for fourth place int he Premiership.
Biscan headed the only goal of the game with just four minutes remaining to move the Reds to within a point of Everton and four points ahead of Bolton.
In a scrappy encounter, Bolton were unlucky early on as they pressured the Liverpool goal with a number of early set pieces, though a goalline clearance by Steve Finnan was the closest they came to opening the scoring in front of the away fans at the Anfield Road end.
There were few chances throughout the remainder of the game, with Bolton looking satisfied with keeping the game at 0-0, and Liverpool finding it difficult to break down Sam Allardyce's well organised side.
The best move of the game saw Liverpool win a corner late on, and Traore delivered a perfectly weighted cross into the box after linking well with Gerrard on the left, with Biscan arriving at the far post to power a header into the net.
Liverpool now lie closer to Everton in the table than they have been since the early weeks of the season, and will be looking to put more pressure on Everton next weekend, with the Reds due to play Man City on Saturday, ahead of Everton's home match against Crystal Palace a day later.
