27.11.2004 - Wiley to take charge of Arsenal clash

Liverpool Logo

Alan Wiley will referee Liverpool's Premiership clash at Anfield tomorrow against title chasing Arsenal.

It will be the third time that the official from Burntwood has refereed a match between the two sides, with Liverpool losing on both previous occasions.

Wiley was in charge of last season's 4-2 defeat at Highbury, and was also at Cardiff for the 2002 Community Shield, in which Arsenal were 1-0 winners.

However, Liverpool's record this season has been good during games in which Wiley has been selected to referee.

The Reds won comfortably against Norwich in September, after goals from Baros, Luis Garcia and Cisse sealed a 3-0 win, and it was an identical scoreline at the New Den in the Carling Cup, where Millwall were dumped out of the competition.
