Xabi Alonso continues in the middle alongside Steven Gerrard, despite reports that there may have been a recall for Hamann, while Cisse is the preferred partner for Luis Garcia.

Alex Ferguson has recalled Rio Ferdinand after his 8 month ban for a drugs offence, and Tim Howard is dropped after a poor start to the season. United's only win of the season so far came in a narrow 2-1 win against newly promoted Norwich at Old Trafford.
