Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has spoken of his disappointment at failing to sign Steven Gerrard during the summer.

The Reds' captain was widely tipped to make a £35million move to Stamford Bridge, though despite admitting that he considered leaving Liverpool, Gerrard's final decision was to stay at Anfield.

Mourinho said: "Steven Gerrard was the one player in the summer we would liked to have had but he decided to stay in Liverpool - and I wish him all the luck - but other than that we have all the players we wanted."

Liverpool's first meeting with Chelsea this season will take place in four weeks time at Stamford Bridge.
