17.08.2004 - Nunez seals move from Madrid to Merseyside
Antonio Nunez has completed his move from Real Madrid, and becomes the second Spanish player to join Rafael Benitez at Anfield.
Liverpool were offered Nunez in addition to the £8million which was recieved from the Michael Owen transfer, and after concluding contract talks, the club today confirmed the signing of Nunez.
Nunez played just 10 times for Real Madrid during his three year stay in the Spanish capital, all of which were as a substitute last season.
He also made over 50 appearances for Real Madrid B during his first two years at the club, including the 2001-2 season which saw the team narrowly miss out on promotion to the Segunda Division.
The 26-year-old will be available to make his debut on Saturday, should he be selected, and will wear the number 12 shirt, which was last allocated to Sami Hyypia before the Finn was handed the number 4 jersey three years ago.
