Chris Kirkland, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard have been called up to the England squad to face Ukraine next Wednesday.

The 24 man squad named by Sven Goran Eriksson also includes Liverpool's first choice strike pairing of last season, with Emile Heskey and Michael Owen possibly having a chance of playing alongside each other just days after Owen joined Heskey in leaving Liverpool.

Chris Kirkland could win his first full cap in the match, which is the final friendly before the 2006 World Cup qualifiers begin, while Jamie Carragher may be given another chance to impress, despite not featuring during Euro 2004.

Steven Gerrard is almost certain to play some part of the match, which will be played at St James' Park, Newcastle.
