Liverpool have agreed a fee to sign Barcelona winger Luis Garcia for £6million, according to Spanish radio reports.

Garcia was a key figure for Barca last season and made 25 La Liga appearances, helping the Catalan club to a runners-up spot behind Valencia.

But after seeing Monaco captain Ludovic Guily and Porto's Deco make moves to the Nou Camp over the summer, Luis Garcia may find it difficult to break into the first team.

And Rafa Benitez will see Garcia as an ideal solution to Liverpool's right midfield problems, following Danny Murphy's move to Charlton and Vladimir Smicer's knee injury which will keep the Czech out for at least 6 months.

The transfer is expected to go through quickly, and Garcia could be signed in time for Liverpool's Premiership opener against Spurs this weekend.
