06.07.2004 - Reds linked with Brazilian striker
Liverpool have been linked with Marcio Amoroso, who is available on a free transfer after being released by Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.
Amoroso has spent eight years playing his football in Europe since arriving at Udinese in 1996, where he took the Italian league by storm, and was Serie A's leading scorer in his third season with the club.
But shortly after an £18million move to Parma in 1999, Amoroso suffered a knee injury which was to rule him out for almost the whole of his first season there, and after a further year with the club, he went on to sign for Borussia Dortmund in a Bundesliga record breaking £15.6million transfer.
Amoroso enjoyed a prolific first season in Germany, though his career there was also affected by injuries, and he played just four times last season, scoring as many goals, before an ankle injury last September ended another season.
A dispute with his club resulted in him being criticised by the Dortmund manageing director for showing 'a total lack of respect' towards the club, and his contract was terminated on April 1, a full 14 months before it was due to expire.
The player had been expected to return to Brazil, but is reportedly generating interest from Liverpool, despite the recent signing of Djibril Cisse.
