19.06.2004 - Baros, Smicer fire Czech Republic in last eight
Milan Baros was once again the hero for the Czech Republic after helping his country fight back from 2-0 down against Holland.
In the second round of games in group D, Holland took the lead on 3 minutes, and were 2-0 up on 18 minutes with Man United's Ruud Van Nistelrooy on target for his second of the tournament.
The Czech's were far from out of the game though and a goal from Jan Koller after being played in by Milan Baros shortly before half time gave them hope, and a fine second half performance saw the Czech's not only equalise, which they did through a fine volley by Baros, but go on to win the game in the closing stages, thanks to a Vladimir Smicer tap in from close range.
Baros' goal was his second of the competition which leaves the Liverpool man joint top scorer after two games, though with the Czech Republic guaranteed to finish top of the group, Baros, along with other star names, may be rested in the final group game against Germany.
