22.05.2004 - Cisse suffers final day injury

Djibril Cisse's Auxerre career ended in disappointment after he was taken off in the 14th minute of his side's away trip at Nice after suffering an ankle injury.

The French International has scored 26 goals this season, 7 ahead of nearest challenger Didier Drogba, but was unable to add to that tally before leaving the action in what will be his last game in an Auxerre shirt before he completes his move to Liverpool.

Cisse is set to cost in the region of £14m when he finally completes his move to Merseyside on July 1, and this week inisted that he will still be keen on the move even if Gerard Houllier, the manager who has been tracking Cisse for 3 years, is not in charge.

"I still want to go to Liverpool. I want to wear the shirt of this club. Whatever the position of Houllier, it will not change my attitude," Cisse said.
