18.05.2004 - Four Reds named in England's Euro 2004 squad

Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Emile Heskey are all set to spend part of their summer in Portugal after being named in Sven Goran Eriksson's Euro 2004 squad yesterday.

However, there was no place for Danny Murphy who, despite his impressive end of season form, was not even named on standby by the England head coach.

The squad will take part in a 3 team tournament in Manchester at the start of June, taking on Japan and Iceland, before flying out to Portugal for the European Championship finals which will see England facing France, Croatia and Switzerland.
