19.11.2003 - Mixed fortunes for Reds in Euro play-offs

In tonight's Euro 2004 play-off second leg matches, there was both disappointment and delight for the two Liverpool players whose nations were involved.

John Arne Riise's Norway went down to a 3-0 home defeat to Spain, losing 5-1 on aggregate as any hopes of making their second successive finals were ended, ironically to the side who knocked them out of Euro 2000.

There was better news for Igor Biscan though, as he watched Croatia record a 2-1 aggregate win over Slovenia to book their place in the finals.

Biscan was not involved, but could yet play his way into the Croatian squad in time for the trip to Portugal next summer.
