Goals from Anthony Le Tallec, Emile Heskey and Harry Kewell helped Liverpool to a comfortable 3-0 win on the first European night of the season at Anfield.

Le Tallec netted his first goal for the club after around half an hour of the game with a neat finish from just inside the 18-yard box, before Emile Heskey doubled to scoreline before half time after a build up which saw the Reds produce some stunning one touch football.

Harry Kewell grabbed a third shortly after the break, his first goal in front of the Kop, and El Hadji Diouf saw a late penalty saved as he attempted to net his first of the season.

The second round draw takes place in Switzerland at midday tomorrow.
