15.10.2003 - Pongolle set for Reds' debut

Florent Sinama-Pongolle is set to make his first competitive apeparance for Liverpool tonight, as the Reds aim to progress into round 2 of the UEFA Cup.

Pongolle has not featured in any matchday squad since the start of the season, with his only appearances so far coming in the pre-season games.

But with Michael Owen and Milan Baros injured, the 18-year-old looks likely to be handed a chance to impress in front of a sell out Anfield crowd tonight, although he is unlikely to start the match.

Anthony Le Tallec will definitely start however, and is most likely to take Owen's place in the starting line up, though could play just behind Emile Heskey. El Hadji Diouf is also set for a return, after completing a 2 match European ban.
