14.09.2003 - Carragher out until March
Jamie Carragher will face a 6 month spell on the sidelines after scans revealed that he suffered a fracture in his right leg as a result of Lucas Neill's horror challenge at Ewood Park yesterday.
Neill's reckless lunge left Carragher in agony, and although the Reds' fullback did all he could to try and get back on his feet.
But despite a couple of minutes of treatment on the pitch, and more treatment on the touchline, Carragher was still unable to put any pressure on the injured leg, and whilst scans last night were unclear as to the extent of the damage, it was announced this morning that he will miss well over half of Liverpool's season after it was discovered that he had suffered a break.
Lucas Neill received an instant red card from Neale Barry and he will miss just three games.
Meanwhile, the statement released by Liverpool this morning also announced that Milan Baros will not play again this year, after an accidental clash with the on-loan Markus Babbel left him with a broken ankle.
No official news has yet been released regarding the extent of Steven Gerrard's injury, after he was withdrawn from the action after picking up a hamstring injury.
