12.08.2003 - Friendly: Fleetwood 1-6 Liverpool
Liverpool thrashed local non league side Fleetwood Town tonight, in the final chance for Gerard Houllier to give some of Liverpool's squad players a run out before the start of the new season.
El Hadji Diouf got the scoring underway from the penalty spot after 19 minutes, before a 30-yard strike from Cheyrou added to the score on 27 minutes.
A Milan Baros double in the space of 5 minutes shortly before the break saw Liverpool into a comfortable half time lead against their North West Counties League opponents.
The same amount of goals may have been scored in the second half had it not been for the fine form of the Fleetwood goalkeeper, who made a string of excellent saves
It wasn't until 25 minutes into the half that the capacity crowd at Blackpool's ground would see another goal, and to the delight of the majority, it came Fleetwood's way, direct from a Lee Catlow free kick.
Liverpool completely dominated the final quarter of the game though and the scoring was completed late on with goals from John Welsh, and a terrific strike by Anthony Le Tallec in the final minutes of the match.
