08.08.2001 - FC HAKA 0-5 LIVERPOOL
Goals - Heskey (31), Owen (56, 65, 88), Hyypia (87) Liverpool cruised to victory over their Finnish opponents with a 5-0 win that was no more than they deserved. After a frustrating opening half hour in which the home side were content with playing the offside trap, Emile Heskey scored Liverpool's first of the night with a close range header from a brilliant cross by Gerrard. The second didnt arrive until 12 minutes into the second half and came when Litmanen played in Owen, who struck a right foot shot under the keeper. Owen was also on target to make it 3-0 with an easy finish after rounding the goalkeeper following a neat chip forward by Berger. The national captain of the host side then made his mark on the scoring, Sami Hyypia firing in from close range after Owen had missed the ball when attempting a strike at goal, but Owen made up for it within 75 seconds by firing a low hot nto the far corner of the net from around 18 yards out to complete the scoring. The result equals Liverpool's best ever away win in Europe. Liverpool - Arphexad, Babbel, Henchoz, Hyypia, Carragher, Hamann, Gerrard, Berger, Litmanen, Heskey, Owen
