02.07.2003 - Salas linked with Reds move
Reports in Chile today are linking Juventus striker Marcelo Salas with a move to Anfield on a free transfer.
Salas was signed by Juventus for a £18million just two years ago after an impressive couple of seasons in Serie A with Lazio.
But the player has struggled at the Delle Alpi since joining the Italian giants, and has scored just one league goal in each of his two seasons there, with a single strike in last season's Champions League completing his goals total of three whilst playing for the Turin club.
Juventus are now keen to offload the 28 year old, with the reports suggesting that he would be available on a free transfer.
A move to sign the 1997 South American Player of the Year seems rather unlikely though, with both Emile Heskey and Milan Baros set to remain at Anfield, despite speculation linking both players with moves away from Merseyside.
Emile Heskey pledged his future to the club earlier this week, while Milan Baros' agent has today claimed that Baros' future lies at Anfield, with Houllier unwilling to consider allowing the Czech striker to leave.
