22.05.2003 - Berger set for Leeds switch
Patrick Berger looks set to become a Leeds United player in thenear future, with reports both in England and also in the Czech Republic claiming that he is close to agreeing a move to Elland Road.
Berger is out of contract at Liverpool and has insisted since last summer that he would not be seeking a renewal, and would be leaving to club once his contract expires.
The midfielder could become the fourth player to move from Liverpool to Leeds since Gerard Houllier took over, following Dominic Matteo, Robbie Fowler and Nick Barmby across the Pennines.
Meanwhile, Harry Kewell may well be moving in the opposite direction over the summer, after Blackburn slapped a £15million price tag on Damien Duff.
Duff is believed to be Houllier's preferred choice as he seeks to sign a winger before the start of the new season, but Blackburn's valuation of Duff may result in the Irishman remaining at Ewood Park, which may see Houllier turn his attentions to Kewell, who is out of contract at Leeds next season and is said to have rejected the club's latest offer of an extension to his existing contract.
Kewell could be available for less than £6m, with Leeds determind not to allow him to leave for free next summer.
