22.05.2003 - Carragher recieves England call up

Jamie Carragher has been added to the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2004 qualifying games against Serbie Montenegro and Slovakia.

Carragher was left out of the initial 25 man squad when it was announced the day after the final Premiership games of the season, but injury has forced Chelsea's John Terry out of the squad and Carragher has been selected to take his place.

Carragher has 8 caps to his name, all of which have been in games since Sven Goran Eriksson took charge, though the Reds' full back has not featured since the friendly against Paraguay last April, and missed the World Cup due to injury.

Danny Murphy, Steven Gerrard, Emile Heskey and Michael Owen are the other Liverpool players who are in the squad, and all four players could also play in tonight's friendly in South Africa.
