23.03.2003 - Four Reds named in latest England squad
Steven Gerrard was today recalled to the England squad for their upcoming Euro 2004 qualifying games against Leichtenstein and Turkey.
Gerrard was serving a domestic suspension when England faced Australia last month, but is now once more available for selection. The Reds' midfielder is joined in the squad by three of his Anfield teammates, with Emile Heskey, Michael Owen and Danny Murphy all earning international call-ups, though there is no room in the squad for Jamie Carragher, despite the continued good form of the Liverpool full back.
The squad in full is as follows:
Goalkeepers: James (West Ham), Robinson (Leeds), Wright (Everton)
Defenders: G Neville (Man Utd), Mills (Leeds), Bridge (Southampton), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Campbell (Arsenal), Southgate (Middlesbrough), Woodgate (Newcastle), Terry (Chelsea)
Midfielders: Beckham (Man Utd), Scholes (Man Utd), Butt (Man Utd), Gerrard (Liverpool), Murphy (Liverpool), Dyer (Newcastle), Jenas (Newcastle), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Lampard (Chelsea)
Forwards: Owen (Liverpool), Heskey (Liverpool), Vassell (Aston Villa), Jeffers (Arsenal), Rooney (Everton).
