27.02.2003 - Reds aiming for UEFA last eight
Liverpool face Auxerre tonight in the second leg of their UEFA Cup fourth round tie, hoping to make it into the quarter finals of the competition, where they could meet Celtic.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg last week, Liverpool need only a draw to guarantee their passage into the last eight, but Auxerre have already demonstrated that they will be no pushovers and have their sights set on overturning the first leg deficit and causing an upset at Anfield tonight.
Star striker Djbril Cisse is back from suspension and will start tonight, and despite failing to score in European competition this season, Cisse will pose a huge threat to Sami Hyypia and co in the Reds' defence.
At the opposite end of the field, Michael Owen will be hoping to equal, or even beat, Ian Rush's record of 20 goals for the club in Europe. Owen is currently just one behind the Reds' legend having netted 6 already this season.
News of the match will be added this evening, along with news from Celtic's match in Stuttgart, with Liverpool, should they qualify, going on to face the winner of that match.
