Dietmar Hamann will almost certainly miss this weekend's Merseyside Derby, after he suffered a shin injury during Sunday's defeat to Sunderland.
The game with Everton will be the first league match that Hamann has missed this season, which is likely to see Diao make a return to the starting line up.
