04.12.2002 - Liverpool v Ipswich: Team news
Gerard Houllier is expected to rest a few key players ahead of tonight's match against Ipswich in the Worthington Cup.
After an excellent debut in the last round of the competition, Jon Otsemobor is likely to again feature, while John Welsh could be set for a first team debut after being named as a substitute in last week's trip to Arnhem.
Another player set for a debut in the senior team is Neil Mellor, who was surprisingly left out of the side in the win over Southampton last month, but is almost certain to start tonight's game.
Mellor has been in fine form in the reserves this season, continuing his terrific form which he showed during last season at both under-19 and reserve level.
El Hadji Diouf could be given a rare start, while Markus Babbel may also be brought back into the side after being rested for Sunday's match against Man United.
Dietmar Hamann is likely to once again be rested, while Michael Owen and the club captain, Sami Hyypia are also likely to miss out, with all three set for a return on Saturday at Charlton.
Chris Kirkland will take Jerzy Dudek's place in goal.
