27.09.2002 - Partridge joins Coventry
Highly rated youngester Richie Partridge has today joined Coventry on a month's loan.
Partridge has been a regular in the reserves for three years, with the exception of a brief loan spell at Bristol Rovers during the 2000-01 season, and was particularly impressive during last season.
However, the Irish U-21 international has made just one competitive appearance for the full team, which was almost two years ago, and he was close to leaving on a free at the end of last season, before the club offered him a two year contract extension which will take him up to the end of next season.
Partridge will join up with Gary McAllister, who is now player-manager at Coventry.
It was also announced yesterday that another player is to leave Anfield, as Vegard Heggem was told that his contract will not be renewed at the end of the season.
'Vedgy' joined in the summer of 1996, but has suffered a number of long term injuries which have severely limited the amount of games that he's played.
Heggem is already the second player known to be leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, following Patrick Berger's recent announcement that he will wait until his contract runs out before leaving Anfield.
