20.09.2002 - Real president interested in Owen

Florentino Perez, the president of Spanish giants Real Madrid, is said to be considering making a summer bid for Michael Owen after a bust-up with Raul which was believed to be over the image rights of the Spanish star.

Perez is quoted as saying, "I'm warning Raul, if I get tired of him, I'll sell him and bring in Owen."

However, Gerard Houllier has been quick to play down the reports.

"Michael is Liverpool through and through and he is going nowhere. My message to anyone wanting to try and bid for him would be to forget it," Houllier said this morning.

Owen is likely to be included in tomorrow's game with West Brom, following two games on the bench. Milan Baros could also be in the starting eleven after his brilliant Premiership debut at Bolton last weekend in which he scored twice.
