Stephen Wright looks set for a move to Sunderland next week after Liverpool accepted an offer of just £1.5m for the defender.

Wright, who is an England Under-21 regular and is highly regarded as future right back for the full England team, has been given permission to discuss personal terms with Sunderland.

Wright played 14 times for Liverpool last season, and opened his goalscoring account in the vital Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Should Wright choose to move to Sunderland, it would leave Jamie Carragher as the only Liverpool born player in the senior team.
