11.06.2002 - Liverpool new boys make World Cup second phase

El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao will both be appearing in the second round of the World Cup after Senegal completed the job of qualifying from their group.

Senegal needed a draw to guarantee that they would be in the last 16, and after racing to a 3-0 half time lead, it looked as though they would even top the group by going ahead of Denmark on goal difference.

But a second half recovery saw Uraguay battle their way back into the game, and a late penalty capped an excellent come back, although it was to be the last goal, with both sides defending well for the last 5 minutes.

Senegal will now face the winners of group F, which is likely to be either England or Sweden, who both play their final games tomorrow.
