06.06.2002 - Mixed fortunes for Diao as Senegal stay on course

Senegal moved a step closer to the second phase with a 1-1 draw against Denmark today, a game in which both new Liverpool

El Hadji Diouf was again lively, and while he failed to get on the scoresheet again, Diouf certainly caused the Danes a number of problems.

Salif Diao meanwhile had a very eventful game. The midfielder was involved in most things by Senegal, but was the man who gave away Denmark's penalty, which saw Senegal go a goal behind.

Diao had a mixed second half, firstly in scoring a fantastic goal, and then in getting himself a straight red card late on in the match for an awful lunge on Henkriksen.

Senegal will be through to the second phase if they draw against Uraguay.
