04.06.2002 - Dudek helpless as Poland suffer World Cup defeat

Jerzy Dudek was on World Cup duty for Poland this afternoon but was unable to prevent his country from going down to a 2-0 defeat to South Korea.

The tournament co-hosts were the better team from virtually the first minute and goals from Hwang Sun-hong and Yoo Sang-Chul were enough to secure the points for South Korea.

Dudek was kept rather busy by his outfield teammates, who were hugely disappointing, and while Dudek may have been a little unhappy with his inability to keep out Korea's second goal, the Liverpool keeper certainly did enough in the remainder of the match to make up for it with some good saves.

Poland are next up against Portugal, were another defeat would almost certainly mean an early return home.
