29.05.2002 - Baros helps Czech's to Euro Championship win
Milan Baros was last night a European Under-21 Championship winner after helping the Czech Republic to a shock win over the competition favourites, France.
The Czech's eventually triumphed on penalties after a 0-0 draw, but had lost convincingly to France in their opening group game. But after a narrow win against Belgium, and a draw against Greece, the Czech's went on to face holders Italy in the semi final, where a 98th minute 'golden goal' was enough to seal their place in the final.
Baros started all games except for the group match against Belgium, although he failed to get on the scoresheet during the competition, coming closest the scoring in the semi final against Italy when he hit the bar.
