Jamie Carragher has suffered another setback after finding out that his recent operation will keep him out of action until October.

Carragher was recently left out of the England squad to play in next month's World Cup Finals and had hoped to be fit for the start of the new season. But Gerard Houllier today confirmed that he will miss Liverpool's pre-season preparations and is not likely to return within the first two months of next season.
