28.03.2002 - International round-up
Liverpool players returned from International duty last night with some mixed results. Owen and Heskey appeared in England's defeat by Italy, and in Portugal, Jari Litmanen was twice on target as Finland recorded a shock 4-1 victory. Hyypia also featured in the game, but Jari undoubtedly stole the headlines after becoming the joint highest goalscorer in Finland's history. There were also win a for a German team including Didi Hamann, but Stephane Henchoz and Vladimir Smicer were both involved in draws while things were evn worse for Jerzy Dudek, who was not only involved in Poland's 2-0 home defeat by Japan, but was also hit by a missile from angry home fans. Dudek lasted only the first half, but should be fit for Saturday's Premiership game.
