17.06.2001 - Riise set to sign

John Arne Riise looks set to become Liverpool's first purchase of the summer tomorrow when he travels to Anfield to discuss personal terms. Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry confirmed that the youngster was flying in for talks about a possible move. The Monaco player was originally looking likely to join Fulham so that he could team up with his old boss, Jean Tigana. But recently, his agent has claimed that he is '100% certain' to join Liverpool instead. Riise is valued at around £4 Million.

The other main transfer story of the weekend has linked former AC Milan legend George Weah with a move to Anfield. The double World Player of the Year winner has already experienced Premiership football with Chelsea and Man City, with the latter a far less pleasurable experience. The Liberian is claimed to have requested a move to Liverpool and is available on a free transfer after his contract expired with Marseille.
