Consistency vital for Reds

Liverpool need to put an end to their inconsistent form of late, if they're to challenge for 4th place in the Premiership.

Two wins and two defeats from their last four home games, and the same record from their last four away games is exactly the kind of form Rafa Benitez doesn't need from his players at this stage of the season.

Injuries have certainly not helped the Reds' boss, but that can't be used as an excuse for some of the below par performances this season.

The players Liverpool still have available are more than capable of competing, as they showed against Chelsea last week, and also during the recent away win at Charlton, Liverpool's best away display of the season.

A similarly determined showing is needed at St James Park on Saturday if Liverpool are to take the points which will keep the pressure on Everton.
